What the hay is this?
So I was browsing the Internet when I discovered this "PonyLiberator" thing over at Reddit, which essentially spoofs the price list that is downloaded into the MLP game on each launch.
I looked over as to how it works and I was surprised that it worked EXACTLY the same way as how the Pokemon Global Trade System is spoofed (if you have delved into the mysteries of the Pokemon games you may know about this).
Since I am already running a Pokemon GTS server, I managed to add in PonyLiberator to work with it as well, rather quickly too. Love people who can code neatly.
Anyway, what this is is essentially the entire PonyLiberator program done up for you. Instead of having to run PonyLiberator, just pick up your iOS or Android device, change your network's DNS to the above "Current DNS", and enter the game. Every item in the shop should then become free! YAY.
How do I work this great and powerful magic?
Steps to do it on iOS: Close MLP > Settings > WiFi > Your Current WiFi Network > DNS > Change it to above > Open MLP. I'm not sure if you can do this on a normal cellular network but if there's an option that allows you to change your network's DNS then that works.
I've verified that this works on my iOS devices, but I can't check if it works on Android too because my Android devices are all either dead or refuse to work with the game. Oh fragmentation.
Update: And I'm told this works on Android too. Hurrah!
Well, I'm a Windows user/dev, so I wish they'd hurry up and port this app over to Windows Phone and Windows 8. BY THE WAY CHECK OUT THE WINDOWS PHONES THEY'RE AWESOME
